I saw a number of blades by Masataka Fukuda on Instagram with red maker's marks and other markings.

Google translate has the comment text as: "We silk print on top of the corrosion in the ferric chloride"

I am curious if anyone knows any more details or readings on this process. My foremost question is if the result is durable enough to last through usage, or if it will scratch off and reveal a 'regular' etch.

I think they etched with a stencil (which is a silk screen) and then used red ink on the same stencil to color in the etch.

kdogmcg - That's what I assumed as well. I would also assume that any ink would not bond strongly, and therefore not be very durable.
