I've had several questions lately by newer customers about the red wax stamp found on most of the GH khukuri handles. Well, here's a refresher:
I used to think they held a special meaning - a seal of authenticity from the kamis or something. However, like much khukuri folklore . . . the answer is much more simple.
The wax stamp is simply an export stamp placed on each handle. I'll do the research to find out exactly what authority affixes the stamp, but that's what it is. The reason some don't have the stamp is that when the "stamper" looks at a box of 300 khukuris, he succumbs to temptation and only stamps the top half of the pile!
The question is: do y'all have a preference? Does the stamp add value in anybody's mind?
