RedHead

If your talking about the Redhead line of knives sold by Bass Pro Shop, many are made by Buck.

I would stick to name brands like Spydercos, Benchmades, Kershaw, ESEE etc.

I'm new to collecting knifes and just wanted to know, are Readheads any good?

Are you planning to collect knives as an investment or are you planning on using them?

The buck made redhead's will be good quality because buck makes good knives.

Answer these questions and we'll be able to help you alot more:

1. What style of knife do you want to buy?
2. What are you going to use the knife for?
3. How much money are you looking to spend?

1. Hunting knifes mostly, fixed blade or not it doesnt quite matter
2. Just general purpose (more for collecting, but i still want decent quality)
3. And i'm a teenager (15) so i dont have a job and i dont want my
parents going broke so about $30-$80

Oh and i really want an old fashion shaving razor so if anyone coulde give me suggestions it would be greatly appriciated.

before i go any further:

1. do your parents know that you want a knife and that their money will be getting it for you?

2. do you go on hunting trips now, if so, what knife/knives does your family/friends use?

3. have you asked your parents to take you to a sporting goods or hunting/camping store to look at knives? it's always a good idea to handle a few knives to give you an idea of what feel comfortable.

there are too many good options available in your price range, you'll have to give me more info about what type of knife you want, folding or not, blade length, how much do you care about weight. these are all questions to help narrow the search.

6. are you a member of his family?

I mean, I thought he was doing pretty well for himself. In the General Knife Discussion, right? Not the Guidance Counselor questionnaire forum.

if i was a member of his family there is a good chance i would have answered most if not all of his questions privately. my main concern was when he posted "Hunting knifes mostly, fixed blade or not it doesnt quite matter" and that he's also looking for a straight razor. i asked those questions to make sure he doesn't get in trouble with either his parents or the law (being that he is a minor). if you think my line of questioning is too off-topic/inappropriate, i'll delete my post.

p.s. i edited my questions down to 3 and changed my tone as to not be too doctor phil.

SOrry I don't know anything about Redheads (well, not the kind you're probably talking about), but if I may make a recommendation, in that price range I don't think you will do better than a Spyderco.

The Endura 4 for example is in my opinion pretty much the standard by which all other production folders should be judged. I have two of these, a new one (Endura 4) and a first generation that I carry as my edc. The E4 is around 60 USD.

Having said that, don't be scared away from the Tenacious. It's made in China but it's a really excellent quality folder for a fantastic price. I think it's around 35 USD in America.

If you don't mind paying around 80 USD then the Manix 2 is simply amazing. I'm in love with this one. Great steel and a remarkable locking system. Fits my hand the best of any other knife, fixed or folder. I carry one as my edc, along with the Endura as mentioned before.

As for the razor, I found mine at an antique shop. A WW1 British army issue. You might find something like that too if you keep looking.

Good luck.

If I were "collecting" at your age, I would look at Spyderco, Case, and Queen knives. If you have the means, a Randall is never a bad investment.

1.Yes
2.No, more for camping and other general use, i know hunting knive's may seem to be a bit overkill for that stuff but i like hunting knives so...yah
3. havent quite got around to that...i will be soon though

And folding or fixed blades are both good with me but i think since im looking for ones with blades about 3-4 inches long fixed would be ideal, and weight doesnt matter...
