Rediscovered Buck 112FG

Yeah, it's NOT a girly knife! And the only reason I put pink pearl handle scales on mine is for camoflage because I like to hunt flamingos! So there!

They started one of those "If you could only have one knife" threads over in traditional and my reponse was, I'd break the blade off my SAK so that it's no longer a knife, and I'd carry that and a Buck 112FG.

...The 112 has always been a sweet piece. I think if Buck had only thought about adding the 112 to the Custom Shoppe along with the Alpha, they would have been shocked at the orders. I'm not sure anymore if that would have been a good thing or a bad thing...I certainly would be a bit quicker to order a "Custom" 112 should they ever become available. In the meantime I'll just "mangle" a few into what I want from time to time...

I'd be all over a Custom Shoppe 112, and I've felt that way for a long time.

...Someone jus' has to have an old BG-42 blade that was made for the 112's years ago...I'll jus' wait til they yell at me about it and then I'll "mangle" it into one of the frames I have lyin' around here and I'll have another pseudocustom 112...heh heh heh...

As a collectable I love the 112....A edc-duc, knife is such a personal choice. Some days I would rather carry a bigger blade and other times a small Buck like a 501...My first Buck was a 501 "Prince" ????? That was my only knife for years. It would be a hard task for any single knife to do it all but I say again a 112 is the best if you only have one....

I think I can agree with that statement! I do not know how amny alphas are sold from the custom shop but I would have thought that the 112 would sell better! Maybe lots of custom alphas are sold, but to noone that hangs out here?
Havent seen many for sale anywhere alse either.

I can tell Buck one thing...A custom shop 112 would sell like hotcakes! As I collect 112s I would order 1 every 2 months....If there were only a few options [as compared to a 110] I would STILL ORDER

On the 112 history and the forums running lil brother to 110 kiddin around comments ....before tech knives became the rage, heck before tech were invented, Buck 112 'RANGERS' were the status symbol on the belt of any good Park Ranger or Wildlife Officer. Timber cruisers carryed'em along with fire fighters. They were prefered for their compact size, they rode the belt well, the stiff blade and smaller handle let everyone except the biggest hoss or littlest nature girl have good control. Once you got that old 440C sharp, it stayed sharp. Nothing wrong with the 110s , they just weren't the Buck "RANGER". Tech knives and super cop movies changed everyone to pocket clip G-10 stuff. All except a few ole farts, yours truly being one, held on to the last pay stub. You had to have a nice custom sheath also, mine was holster leather, split calf lined, dark brown. Quality lasts and I still wear it. Pull out a 112 or a 110 now and the new generation will call you historic.
That is why I have only 2 110s but 7 112s. PS ususally had 112 on belt, and a 300 in pocket for detail work. 300bucks
300bucks,
Many on this list know that I spent eight years with San Diego Police and the 112 was on my gun belt the whole time for all the reasons you mentioned. It's a great knife that fit the bill before they came out with all the "tactical" stuff.

I think Buck will one day offer the 112 in the Custom shop....Long-time Buck fans who like the 110 have them now and will order a FEW more on a limted basis, but when a 112 is offered orders will pour in !!!! It will create a LOT of intrest in the custom shop and Buck in general...... Think about the numbers..First rush of orders will be in the hundreds, then slowly taper down to more than 110 orders, then most likly equal current 110 orders......I feel the demand would justify expanding space/personal in the custom shop. One reason Im sure Buck dosent do it now is the backlog that first rush of orders would cause,so what! Folks will wait YEARS for some customs..Id wait on a 112 for as long as it took to get it!!!!!!!!!!

Darryls, I wish that had looked a little closer at your "Customs" when I was there with Dave....Your work is as good as anyone and better than most..At the time I was not a member of BCCI or a Buck collector period....You have some GOOOOOD 112s I wish I had now that I know a little...
