Redwood scales for a zt 0350? I have the wood just was wondering what your thoughts were on its being used for this particular knife. Will the redwood be okay seeing as the handle scales are so thin?

MAYBE IF they are stabilized? Otherwise redwood is so soft I can't see them holding up?

No, physically stabilized. It means that it is impregnated with a substance that basically retains most of the character of the original wood, with the added benefits of it being harder, less prone to warping or cracking, and much less absorbent.

This is a place that is recognized as some of the best people for stabilizing woods. http://www.knifeandgun.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=71 I don't know if redwood would take to it, I will leave that question to other people. However, you can also get pre-stabilized here: http://www.burlsource.us/servlet/Categories

KandG has there own formula for doing redwood.

Personally IMHO the redwood isnt as hard as some of the other woods after stabilization. It still hardens up and what not just its not gonna get to the point of some of the other woods that are harder to begin with.
