Reeve Umnumzaan - quality and utility?

Many thanks, guys for your replies.

Only one problem left to resolve: What do I do with my Cold Steel TwistMaster® medium clip point that has been an often used constant companion in my left front pocket? I bought it at SMKW on close-out for $4.95 to test/destroy it to find out how accurate was my perception that if I weren't always vigilant, my non-stainless steel [fill in the blank] would self-destruct in a short time.

I've not oiled it or lubricated it ever. I wipe the blade after use. I'll wash out the slot where blade rests. The darn thing discolored almost immediately after I sliced several tomatoes. . . . That's it. I keep it sharp with 19-degree edge on each side. I'm still waiting for it to corrode.

What do I do with a device that has just been doing its job without raising any fuss?

Gift it to a buddy or a young relative as a first knife.

Being that you're left handed, I'd suggest you carry your old faithful in the bottom of your right front pocket as a back-up, beater, second carry for when a smaller or different-use-than-your 'Zaan is required. I usually keep my primary, good-cutting modern folder clipped in my right front and a smaller, second-carry in the bottom of my left. Unless, of course, I've got a third clipped in one of the lower pockets of my carpenter jeans... ;)

People love the Um. Some people. I thought they were so great that I sold all 3 that I bought. As far as CRK goes, I much prefer the Inkosi. I find it preferable in every way over the Um. As far as large folders, in general go, I would steer you toward the Spartan Blades Harsey Folder. Far and away my favorite in that size range. To me, it feels like everything that the Umnumzaan was supposed to be.
