Hey Guys...

I picked up a very cool adapter off of Fleabay that allows you to refill those
1lb disposable liquid propane bottles from a standard 20 lb tank...

The process is Very simple....

Chill the 1lb bottle in the freezer for 15 minutes and attach it to the 20 lb tank. Turn the 20 lb tank upside down and open the valve..
Give it a 60 count and shut the value..

You can refill the 1lb bottles for pennies and there is no waste until the valve on the 1lb is worn out...

Most all parks in Canada have pretty much banned the use of these bottles as they are hazardous waste. With refilling them you use less of the bottles and the refills are Cheap....

Normark,

Pay very close attention to the cautions in the PDF. You don't want to overfill the 1 lb er.

The parks have banned what bottles?

Hey DOC...

Ohhh yes..

I'm aware of overfilling the 1lb bottles...
They do have a safety blow off,, but you don't want it to engage!! :)

National and Provincial parks have banned or are about to ban the use of disposable LP bottles in the parks...I forget exactly what they say about them, however I know they are Not liked by the parks at all, as they are considered hazardous waste and they have to pay to have them removed...

I've been filling the one pounder bottles with that adapter for years. I have never had one overfill on me...not to say it can't happen, just unlikely. Chilling the bottle is key to a good fill, although I have never had them get as full as a new bottle off the store shelf. I got my adapter at Cabelas.

My company sells LP in "bulk" for home heating, ag use, etc., and also refills the 20 pound barbecue bottles, 30 pound forklift bottles, 100 pounders, etc.

In order to make sure you're filling them with the proper amount, simply set the bottle on a scale as you fill it. That's what we do with the 20 pounders anyway.

Hey Guys...

I just did a refill today and it worked Beautiful...
It was extremely easy to do and got a nice full charge from it...

Finally now I can stop buying those darn 1lb bottles at least until these ones wear out. In all honesty though I think I've only had one or two where the valves were crap...

I'll pick up some new empty ones at the provincial parks when I see them..
For the $15 it cost me it's going to save alot of money in the long run...

Hey Possum...

Yaa that won't work with this set up as it is connected right onto the tank..There is No hose inbetween...

A mental count of 60 secs gives you 1lb of LP..

Plus you have to hold the 20lb tank upside down...
You can also back feed into the 20lb tank by doing the opposite..
This is handy if you run out of LP when you are BBQ'ing and have a couple of 1lb bottles kicking around..
Simply dump the 1 lb bottles into the 20 lb bottle....
Just refill them back and forth as needed..

I camped in a few Provincial parks last summer. At the garbage drop off spots there were signs saying "do not leave empty propane or fuel tanks" or something to that effect, and what did I see? a dozen disposable tanks on the ground at each place. I can see the Ministry of natural resources getting a bit ticked off over this.

I may be misreading, but they seem to say they no longer sell the item.

Hey Thomas..

I think you are misreading it..

The scrolling banner say they have a new website and "Are Now" selling the Mac Coupler Online...
