Reflections on my first month of Fiddlebacks (more pics on page 2)

" … I'll post some new pictures for you when I can. It got bubble wrap and yellow mustard tonight. :thumb up: … "

Can anyone share the "bubble wrap and mustard" forced patina method? Really like the way M4's blade came out … Thanks.

Mix a little mustard and water on a plate....

Use a super porous sponge, or bubble wrap and dab the solution on the blade. You can play with it till it looks cool. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes and whips it off with water & soap. Then re oil the blade . Sit back, look at it and smile.

I used straight yellow mustard and smeared it on bubble wrap with a butter knife to fill in the crevasses, but left the top of the bubbles clean(ish). Then, I simply pressed the bubble wrap on the blade. I only did 15 minutes with the full strength mustard. I might reduce the time or try the dilution next time. However, I didn't dilute the mustard so it would be thicker and easier to control the pattern.

New friends added. Thanks to butlerdelt for the Hiking buddy. Beautiful maple with thick white and black liners. Here's some shots of it:

I scored a second Nessmuk for my brother. Just couldn't let go of the first. Wanted a tapered tang, but took what I could get. I think they make a nice pair and I'm sure he'll be pleased:

The wife likes them so much she requested an Arete in Shadetree ruby burlap or Margarita G10. Guess what popped up yesterday! Gratuitous rip off of the FF pic, but it should be on it way this week:

We're off to the local Tandy to get some sheath makins and see what we can come up with.

Happy New Year!

Very nice additions - quite a collection you're putting together …

Have fun with that Arete. My favorite knife. I just scored one in Scandi and it's somehow even better.
