I regret to say that due to some QC problems that have surfaced, we will be delaying shipment of the new BUSH HOG's for at least another week. Phil promises me answers by Tuesday of next week. When I know more, the readers of this forum will know that day.

I realise that many here are anxiously waiting shipment, but we refuse to ship this new knife before its ready. I will be gone for the next few days for the holiday, and will check back here late this weekend.

Will, I too am waiting for the "HOG". Correct me if I am wrong but if the BH is the same thickness as the Mag. Camp then this is going to be one chopping sumbish. The MC cuts sooo clean and swift and its cutting ability is only limited by its size, so give it a few more inches of swingable blade like the Hog has and I am inpressed before I even order one!

Gentlemen,
Testing of the handmade proto's of the BUSH HOG went very well. Everybody that used it went crazy over the thing. We then laid plans to ship the first ones last month. The first PRODUCTION BUSH HOG's were finished last month and sent to Ethan, and Myself for testing. We found some problems. These problems were not present in the Handmade samples, but arose due to the combination of events during the production process. We have indentified them, and designed them out of the knife.

This has unfortunaltey greatly delayed our expected delivery plans. We now plan on shipping BUSH HOGs in late January. I will keep you informed of its progress.

Please understand, these changes are small, but critical. We will not ship products until the satisfy Mr. Ethan Becker. But that means that we will ship only knives that are done right. We are very sorry for the delays.

Will & Ethan,

Thanks for the update. Glad to see you are on top of the situation. One of the main points of the Bush Hog is its higher quality and without that, there would be no reason to produce or to have one. Glad to see you are paying close attention to the quality.

What Rockwell hardness have you deemed appropriate for the Bush Hog considering its 0170-6C steel, size, and intended use? What are some of the other specifications such as weight that should be in the final production model, barring any needed changes? I recall from this thread,
http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum21/HTML/000429.html , that so far you have said it will have a 14" blade and be fully flat ground out of .188" stock.

Once the final production version is perfect, and shipping, will they be generally available, or will it take a while to produce a large quantity? Looking forward to the Bush Hog!

Keep up the good work!

Donald.

Donald,
We are looking at approx 58 Rc on the blade, but I will announce it when we are satisfied with performance. Once we finalize everything on the design, you will be able to get ALL THE BUSH HOG's you want

CAMILLUS is capable producing LARGE amounts of knives, once we get rolling.

Thanks for the interest!

One question about the sheath.

This is my first post here, but I've been reading for a while, and really like the looks of the Bush Hog; really nice knife! The sheath is going to be nylon instead of Kydex, but will it be ambidexterous like the Campanion sheath? Being left handed, I was especially glad for the sheath design of the new Beckers. Any chance of a picture of the sheath? And any idea what the actual price is going to be? Still "under $100.00", which seems like a heck of a price for a big blade. Thanks for any answers.

V Shrake,
The sheath will be a plastic lined, PROPEX[nylon] sheath, with a hard 'cut strip' along the welt to keep the BUSH HOG's edge from cuttin through the stitching. It will not be ambi like the kydex sheaths are, but you will be able to put it on your belt on either side. With its long recurved edge, we had to make it this way.

The good news for you is that it will be suggested retail of $99.95. I'm sure you will be able to find it on the 'net for $79.95 or less.

I'll put up more pics as we get closer to release date.....sometime next month.

HAppy Holidays,

Will,
Thanks for keeping us updated on the progress of this knife. I'm greatly anticipating the arrival of the Bush Hog and the wait is made easier by having a target date to look forward too.
