Regarding geek stuff of yesteryear....

I remember my brother getting sometype of sience kit but sure can't remember who made it. It had radio active material in a little container and you could see it glow.

How about Mr. Wizzard?

We didn't have much choice back then although it was good stuff. Beany & Cecil, Howdy Duddy, and a few more I can't come up with names for.

I just remembered pestering the neighborhood to buy Burpee seeds so I could get a subscription to Boys' Life. Man, I loved that mag. Anyone remember the story about the solar sail racers? Now the idea is still being pursued for long-distance space travel.

Your comment made me think of Pinky Lee, Garfield Goose, and of course, Action Theater after church Sunday, what with both an episode of Jet Jackson AND Flash Gordan or Commando Cody. The stuff of dreams and hopes and aspirations...

The pits was being forced to watch Lawrence Welk every Saturday night "because you might learn more about the accordian." Nowadays, I sure wish I'd stuck with that danged squeezbox. Polkas aren't near`so distatseful anymore.

Myron Floyd or Florin (SP)............ Lawerence Welk.......... a one-a, and a two-a..........

When the L.W. show came on, it was almost like being in church............. "Be Quiet and watch this show......You should hope to grow up like them someday".

Mr. Wizard.........Now that rings a very nice bell..........Don Herbert............ Wonderful stuff.........

Lash Laroo, Johnny Mac Brown, Sky King and Penny, Wild Bill Hickcock, The Lone Ranger and Tonto..............

Geeze......... I went to my 40th Class Reunion last Saturday night............ Depressing as hell.......... I asked my wife, "Do I look that bad"? Of course she made me feel better by saying "not quite that bad".

Could be worse I guess, there were 18 class members that have gone on to another place.

Damn Fitz, Now I am walkin' down memory lane, and I sure miss some of those memories.

As long as we still have the memories, Robert, we're still in the game.... :)

They got LW reruns on TVLand, I think. I saw Myron not too long ago. He's a little fuzzy looking nowadays and dresses like some 60's dork. ;) ;)

I made a crystal AM radio out of one of those kind of kits. I had to wrap wire around the tube it came in and hook the crystal up and 'scratch' it to tune the thing. I watched Mr Wizard too. Christ I'm getting to be old....

"Getting", Tracy? ;)

Funny how the brain seems to keep working when everything else is in need of an overhaul.

Thinking back to Saturday morning matinee's at the theaters. I was so big for my age I had to have a copy of my birth certificate to get in for under 12 years old. There was one serrial where this fellow had a backpack rocket and steel helmet. That was the coolest thing. I even drempt a few time that was me.

The Lovely Lenon Sister's weren't to bad.....

That would have been the Commando Cody I mentioned earlier, Ray.

Man, ain't it the truth about the mind/body thing? My mind may be a little duller than it was, but the body's a piece of refuse waiting for the garbageman to come collect it. :barf:

Well Mike I sure read all Heinlein's books when I was a kid but I didn't make the character connection... I think I've lost a few brain cells somewhere along the way. :D Lazarus Long was my favorite Heinlein character.

I was an Erector Set kid myself, and still buy all the random Erector parts I can find at garage sales. Some day I'm going to build the Ultimate Bridge across my living room. Yeah, right, as if my wife would stand by for that! :D Maybe build a nice Erector faraday cage around my office? Keep the aliens from reading my brain!
