African Blackwood Regatta Fighter by John White, MS
I may be prejudiced, but I think that this is John's best design to date, and is light and quick in the hand and balances just forward of the guard. John White won the Peck Award for the Best JS Test knife at the Blade Show in 2004 and received his MS Stamp in June 2007. This Fighter is marked JS and is available because I have a similar piece on order with John, and as my wife keeps reminding me, I can't own them all.
The knife is 14.5" overall with a 9.625" blade. The fittings are a spectacular highly layered Damascus with two nickle silver spacers (see the closeup). An exhibition grade block of African Blackwood has been sculpted into a beautiful and practical handle, which is finished off with a matching nickle silver spacer and fileworked damascus butt cap. It comes with a great image by Coop and a nice leather sheath by the maker.
A first class knife by a great maker, without a two year wait.
