Registering for the Spyderco forums

If your ISP gives you an e-mail address (which as far as I know, they all do) register using that. Free web-based e-mail addresses are automatically blocked to cut down on spammers. If free e-mail is all you have, Kristi will have to add you manually, and in order for her to do that, you have to get a message from your free e-mail through the spam filters to her. Private message or e-mail through here may have a better chance of reaching her. Be aware that she travels a lot and services a lot of sales accounts as well as tending to the forums.

I had the same problem, but TazKristi helped me out after I sent an email in asking for help and she got me on. Spyderco forums is easy to get on to compared to USN, took me two years to get on there. In the meantime most of what is on there also gets posted here.

Oh man that makes me feel bad. Back in 05-06 (I forget exactly when) I made a profile there, looking for Emerson stuff. I ended up using the profile twice. It just goes to show how things can change.

Yeah same here. I tried to join months ago. I have a user name and read only access. I cannot understand how I can have a user name and login password but no write privlidges but that seems to be the case.

I sent the forum moderator a message several weeks ago to no avail. I finally gave up and just contribute here instead.

I will follow this thread in hopes of rectification.

Sounds like you never completed the verification email part of signing up. The email probably got trapped in you spam filter.

Try resetting your password, or having them resend the email, and then check your spam folder again.

So any idea how I can get on the forums? Seems like a great place and all I can do is read ><

TazKristi,

After reading the posts here, I don't feel quite so dumb. I'm having the same problem registering on the Spyderco site.

I've apparently been unable to contact you.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Another guy here with a problem registering. I sent them an email and haven't heard back yet.

I registered for the Spyderco forums about 6-8 days ago and replied to the email but apparently I'm still in moderation - is that typical? I can post or do anything but read.

They are probably slammed with the SHOT show...Lots of awesome stuff coming down the pipe.

Congrats on 2K posts, Reeek. ;)

It only took a few minutes to clear when I signed up, but that was before the last time the spambots breached the walls. It probably takes longer now. SHOT prep ain't helping matters, either.

Guys, they were just preparing/doing the SHOT show. They are very busy on a regular day and throw the SHOT show in and they become ridiculously busy. Just give it time. They're not ignoring you.

I emailed customer support and they sent me a login password no problem. simply send them your email, name, birthdate I believe and they will get you a login, also provide a desired username.

Since you said this I figured I'd register over at USN. It took 65 mins for them to approve me after I completed registration there. I used my work email which is a .org so that might have helped me out.
