I'm 50.
Kinda old school. Not a techie or however that's spelled?
I work in New Product Development/Engineering.
People are surprised that I suck at doing So many things..... I get teased and ridiculed daily.
When I'm Actually surprised that I'm able to do A lot of things that others only dream of, in broad depth of interesting areas. I can make Anything.
I have Many patents.

I'm not bragging, that might just put in perspective how I don't fit into This world......


I grew up in a time when it took all day hooking up speakers to your TV.
Remember how difficult the first VCR's were to install?
Geez, months for the early computers. Or even longer!


I thought we were past those days?
My last ten years or so were so easy..... Laptops, phones, TV's, dvd, rocu, etc etc.......




WHY CAN'T I FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO INSTAGRAM????

It's Soooooo non intuitive. Ive tried a few times to post a few of my knives that I make there as an archive so I can show people my entire work....... Ugh, does it Suck.

They only give you a few buttons, that don't do anything I want!
I wish the knife community would use a different app


Can I even post More than one photo at a time?


I can feel all the teenagers laughing at me for being this lame.


Anybody else struggle with the simplest things? Haha. :/I
P.S. I'm struggling with emailing, and passwords on the Way too many devices we are forced to use day to day. I was born in the wrong time period.
 
I grew up in 3rd world country, so I share your experience of 80s in my 2000s. I'm only in my mid 20s.

I also don't use Instagram.

You can use Imgur, you can upload multiple it has option to create an album from any picture you uploaded. It is also easy to link to internet wide forums (not limited to this forums). You can also give your pictures in the album description and title. Imgur is not as attractive as Instagram. But you know what? Instagram always asks me to make an account to see all pictures, which is a big turn off for me. If you want me to watch all of your work, don't force me to make an account for that place.
 
I am a younger person, was playing typing games in elementary and by the time I was leaving high school, they were turning homework online, which I hated, but I do like having typing and search skills. Insta and all those sites do suck, especially now that hashtags are not the primary function of finding things or putting them out there, people can just buy the spots now.

I would really just keep it as a way to post things you want your friends or potential people of a similar interest to see, don't try too hard to work the algorithm. For me, the main purpose of socials like IG and FB are to keep in touch with people and such.

But no, it is not just you, I have always thought a hug amount of the tech stuff sucks. Traditional forums like this are pretty cool however.

-Flicker used to be a thing for photography..... I'm not sure if it exists still?
I remember liking it. Almost 20 years ago

-I'm not on Facebook anymore. I was only briefly, probably over ten years ago.
It seemed way too invasive to me, way back then.

-Tumblr is easy to navigate, but everyone is seven degrees left of being an "artist" there...... And way too politically brainwashed for me.

-snapchat, I tried years ago too, but it kinda freaked me out.



A logical question would be ....... "Hey, why not post them HERE?"
I will.... I plan on updating my membership soon.

some of My older pics here are now gone on various topics. Lost.

I think perhaps some of your problems (particularly password related) might be resolved if you were to concentrate a bit more on capitalization. ;)

But actually - me too. :D
 
You need an image host. Google it. Find one and upload your images. Display an image after it's uploaded, and copy (ctrl-c) the text in the box that says: 'embed code'. Paste (ctrl-v) that into the forum post here in which you wish the image to appear, and it will. Or, you can display the image on the web host, copy the test in the url box of the browser, and paste it between ["img"] and ["/img"] tags withiut the quotes, but with the square brackets.

I recently had to learn how to attach photos to an email, and make the photos small enough to go through email, and I learned a lot of other stuff in the process, such as img tags for use in html, such as the forum. I think img tags are also BB code, which usually works on a forum like Blade Forums.
 
If you are concerned about photos long term, I would create files and put them on a thumb-drive. No guarantee that any site is going to hang on to photo’s/threads or even be around
 
I agree. Don't store the only copy of your images on an image host. Always keep copies on your own device, and preferably also on a second medium like a backup drive (usb flash drive)
 
You should be able to do a Google search on how to set up an Instagram account.

Only problem is technology disappears every 15 years.
I have floppies, audio tapes, and VHS that I can't play
 
all I know is its magic.

I type stupid crap on a little screen that has no buttons that is otherwise a black monolith in my pocket and you guys have to let it happen to you.

I have no patents or instagram....but I can use this forum well enough.......

it's all I need for this knife hobby. now for green olives postings without instragram, that's a problem, right Chronovore Chronovore
 
T-Rex don’t do push-ups, don’t use silverware and don’t do self-#@“$*#$ but old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill. Or say I tell myself, I can do biology, chemistry, physics but can’t backup my computer. We all have skill sets, keep the faith!
