What angle do you guys usually reprofile your delica too? I tried to sharpen mine on the sharpmaker and the angle is way too obtuse for my sharpmaker. So I broke out the coarse diamond stone and started reprofiling at fifteen degrees. I'm know where near done, but im wondering what you guys reprofile at?
Thanks for the help, Chet.

Hmm..I also have the sharpmaker and delica 4. In the DVD that came with the sharpmaker, Sal said the angle that comes on Spyderco folders are about 30 degrees, that way you can sharpen it and make it have a primary bevel of 40 degrees. Worked good for me, only took about 15 minutes to take it from factory edge to the ideal edge that Sal recommends.

Yeah mines just too obtuse for the sharpmaker right now. I had to do the same thing to my caly 3 the day I got it. I have no problem with having to reprofile it, I was just wondering what angle the rest of you have reprofiled them at.

I would go for a 15 deg per side back bevel with a 20 per side micro bevel.
I have run into a couple of Spyderco's that were ground to obtuse to sharpen on the Sharpmaker. They are sharpened by hand so some variation is normal.

thanks bruceter, I figured they were done by hand. I understand that variation is normal that doesnt bother me at all. No one is perfect not even spyderco :) Though it sure seems pretty close.
