Hello Folks.

Tom Krein is the go to guy around here for regrinding blades. His work looks good.

What other knife makers might offer up this service?
I dont see anyone advertising this option, although after viewing the craftsmanship that most makers are showing here, they are all suspect to being able to complete this small task.

I have a benchmade 210tk that need to be thinned down quite a bit.
Its a great little knife but can not cut an apple without splitting it like a maul.

If you have the equiptment and the skills, please contact me. A little extra cash for the holidays, i can ship and prepay.
I just bought the knife and would like to ship it straight to the regrinder before i get it.

Thanks!

i thought i would get a handful of offers.
knife makers must be busy? good for them.
any ideas, please post them.

Thanks

I dont know a benchmade 210tk but I think that most makers would not feel comfortable working on a knife not of there making. In other words, they are not scared if they screw up a knife that belongs to them. If they mess it up they can just start over. But when you take a knife that is a clients and re-work it and mess it up, oh boy that could be a problem. Just my thought. Now when you say re-grind, do you mean just put a good cutting edge or total re-grind?

edgemaster....i feel your pain....tom is the man when it comes to regrinds.....i just got two back and they r great!.....i tried goin with someone else once and it is a bad idea.....i think alot of makers aren't comfortable doing it or it isn't worth their time....and tehy'll be charging almost as much or the same price tom does.....just go with tom.....i had a hard time finding someoen else and i just gave up.....ryan

thanks for the above 2 posts.

don't be afraid. total regrind, full flat.

waiting on an email reply from T. Krein.

hey Edge, Tom's Dad was in a serious car accident, that has taken all his attention the past couple weeks...

Like Ryan said, he is the man when it comes to regrinds!

Thanks for the above info.
I will call him, sorry to hear about the accident. Hope all heals.

Landi, sure you dont want a go at it?
your grinds always look so nice. artistic license when grinding, do what you know, thinner will be better for this guy.

Thanks again

Hey Edgemaster,
Quick question- does it come hollow ground and you'd like it full flat? (Trickier)
Or is it flat ground now and just too thick? (Less tricky)

You've got your email and pm options turned off, but I can help you out- let's take it to email.

Wow, thanks for the compliment my friend! I truly appreciate it. I would like to gracefully pass on the offer. I still mess up my own blanks... :) and I can't throw your knife into my screw up pile.

Thanks, John.

Tom Krein is still doing regrinds on a limited basis. Best thing is to give him a call to let him know what you need and see if he has time to do what you need. I am waiting on him to do a few regrinds that I sent in.

Is it convex or something or you just want it thinned which would require a full height flat grind?
