Well I'm very close to purchasing my first CRK. I'm definitely decided on the plain large 21. I'm not decided on the blade shape though. So, regular or Insingo? Why?

I just got the LG Insingo this afternoon and used it at work all I can say is I'm sorry I waited so long. The blade shape is perfect for maintenance task. As far as which one I have both but I started with the regular 21. Get the regular 21 it has a cooler looking blade then save for the Insingo. JMO.

The Insigno just seems a better cutter, slicer, and chopper to me and seems easier to strop and sharpen.

Both are great, but if forced to choose, I'd go Insigno.

I have one of each and also prefer the insingo....but you can't go wrong with either

I got my insingo 2 weeks ago and haven't put it down yet. I like the blade so much I have been debating putting my cf larg sebenza for sale to fund a micarta insingo! And I love my CF version so that's a lot to say.

I prefer the Insingo--have both, but like the Insingo a bit more. Probably just a personal preference in re blade shape. Both are great knives. The blade on the Insingo seems bigger, even though it is the same length.

Well, I've decided to go with the Insingo. However, they seem to be very difficult to come by right now. BladeHQ is supposed to email me when they get more in. The last time I went this route, I got the email 3 months after I bought it elsewhere.

I wouldn't wait for the e-mail, check the site in the afternoon each day. I got my small insingo from them and it was top notch.

It seems the Insingo isn't part of the regular CRK line. I hope that's not the case. I'll likely wear this one out and will definitely want another.

Knifeart.com has an "exclusive 2010 Insingo." I have no idea what that means. Is it 2 years old?

When Chris Reeve first released the insingo blade they were an exclusive from Knifeart and that was around 2010.....I think. I believe what you are seeing on their website is exactly the same knife sold anywhere else. All the materials look to be the same.

The first Sebenza I got was a large micarta 21 with the plain blade, and that is what sparked my love for the Sebenza. I'm now trying to get a large micarta Insingo to match, but I can't imagine owning just one or the other. So in good BladeForums tradition, I would say to get both :D

No matter which one you get, you'll end up wanting the other at some point as well. Personally, if you had to start with just one, then I would start with the pure and original Sebenza with the plain blade.

The first time I saw the Insingo it just "did it" for me. The regular blade shape is reminiscent of so many other knives. The Insingo just seems special in that regard. Both will do the job, of course.

I love wharncliffe blade shapes and the Insingo looks great.
I, however, picked the regular blade shape as my first. It's just the classic look of the Sebenza.
I love it and am very pleased with my choice.
That doesn't mean I don't want a Small Insingo to carry with my large with the regular blade shape.
But I'm glad I picked this one, I think the small Insingo would make an excellent secondary carry. And would kick the Spyderco Chaparral out of that place lol.

Both are great, but if forced to choose, I'd go Insigno.

+1! Couldn't agree more. It's the Insingo for me! I love the blade shape and the swedge.
Both will do the job, so I suggest that you pick the one that appeals to you aesthetically.

This is exactly how I feel. I love the Insingo and will eventually own one of those mini-cleavers; but, the classic Sebbie blade profile is so immediately recognizable as a legendary CRK, that it would almost be sacrilegious not to have one of those first.:)

^^^ I agree.
Like I said, I love wharncliffe blades(carried a Spyderco Chokwe for god only knows how long) and they're great and just so utilitarian.
However, when choosing my first Sebenza I was like "Maybe I should go with the Insingo because I love the Wharncliffe".
I instantly talked myself out of that because even though I love and appreciate Wharncliffe blades, I did want a Sebenza and the classic look of the Sebenza has come to form around that regular blade shape which is beautiful and works just as well as a wharncliffe in my opinion. I know eventually I will get that Small Insingo, but only to go with and accentuate my Plain Jane Large Sebenza with the regular blade. I think that would be the ultimate carry. I am very pleased with my choice even though I love and appreciate a good wharncliffe. I just appreciate my Sebenza and I love the regular look. Any time you see someone mention a Sebenza you almost immediately see that gorgeous plain blade shape. It's my favorite knife and for good reason. I will own an Insingo one day, but when going with your first, I'd go with Classic. :D
