Regular Ronin Check In

Too late. I went and bought a Bud Nealy Y2K with a 4 inch blade marked "first edition".

Looks like I am out of the market for a urban carry FB for now.

Catch the ronin at a later date.

Any word on the mysterious Ronin anyone? Is the knife going to be as elusive as the Loch Ness Monster? Is it just a teaser to keep us on the edge of our seats?

I saw (with my own eyes) sheaths being finished in the "Sheathery". They have met our test standards (dynamic drop test (72" drop), static weight test (15 lbs) and cycle test (1000 cycles).

They have the Janich/Snody "necklace tunnel", the "thumb push off"
They have our new "tension adjustment" and a Tek-lok.

Should be very soon.

Thanks, Sal! I had put the Ronin on the back burner in my mind, but this information is good to see.

What about a "G" clip and a "J" clip.....:D

We're still playing with "G" clips and "J" clips. We've not yet come up with something that we feel will meet all of the required the needs. Our sheath designer likes "J" clips, but recent tests have indicated that there is still work to do. When we catch up on the Ronin and SPOT sheaths, I guess we'll get back to experimenting.

Sal,

Thanks for the info. My above post was supposed to be a little humorous. :D Anyway, if its drilled for a Tek-Lok it should be pretty easy to attach an aftermarket G or J clip, or a loop, to it. Unscrew one, screw on the other.

Will it have numerous attachment points like the Perrin?

Sal,

Been a couple of weeks since your last posting on the Ronin, any idea of an availiability date on them?

Memnoch,

How do you like the Nealy Y2K I have been thinking of purchasing one.

Thanks to both in advance.

Simon

I got to handle one at the Spyderco Factory Outlet store last week. It was not for sale...I tried to purchase it on the spot. Very sharp and very pointy. The micarta scales looked great and the blade looked to be bead blasted. I am going to order one the minute they are available. The sheath looked pretty good also. From what they said at the store they should be available soon.

I had read the review of this knife in TK mag. I wasn't aware that Spyderco would be actually producing this, maybe the article stated that and I missed it. Anyway, sounds like a great addition to the Spydie line. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Any insight what the street price might be?? Thanks.

I went back and re-read the article. At that time (summer 2002) the Ronin was only available through Snody himself, but I guess you all knew that... anyway... glad to see a production version by Spyderco.

Still wouldn't mind hearing what MSRP and estimated street price may be. Thanks a million.

I'm not certain the MSRP, but internet pre-order prices have been from $105-$110.

Mike Snody's Ronin is great! Got it at last years Blade Show. In seconds after opening the door for VIP pass holders, there were about a doxen buyers crowded around his table.

Can't wait for Spyderco's model.

Then there's the Yojimbo...

Good news finally!!

Ronins are beginning to ship this week to the 200 collector number holders. We anticipate filling existing orders next week and through the end of the month.

Thanks for your patience; this one is worth the wait.

That is good news! But question?

What is a collector number holder and how does one become one? How did / does one place an order as I did not see that option anywhere on the Spyderco site.
