Regular sebenza users, shifting towards the 21?

Well, it apparently wasn't financial feasible to continue with two different styles of Sebenza's, so the decision was made to continue with the concept that was closest to the Original, i.e. the Classic and subsequently, the 21. While not exactly the same, the 21 blade profile is closer to the Original than the Regular was. I'll take some pic's later to show you.

The only thing I do not like about the regular is the lock bar area. Too rough on the fingers when opening and closing but I DO LOVEEEEE the blade profile. I wish CRK never went away with that. Hopefully they can chime in and give their customers, who prefer the regular blade shape a reason why.

I wish they would have kept the regular blade profile also, but Chris seems to like to change things after awhile. I am sure thats the only reason as I doubt it has anyting to do with mfg. I personally think he sould bring back a "P" Style sebenza, the best of both worlds. A Regular Sebenza blade profile with a Classic/21 handle.........Wishful Thinking I am afraid !!!

Here you go. The Classic/21 blade is on top, the Regular on the bottom and the old guy is in between. You guys pick the one you like best, but I know which one I like :D

Is the lg regular blade a little shorter then the 21's or classic? My lg reg is a tiny bit shorter then my insingo

I thought I wanted a Classic until I got one. I then realized that I really wanted a Regular but they were all gone by then.

The only CRK knife I own is a large regular. I like it a lot, but I'm planning on buying a small Sebenza Insingo in the future, which is basically a 21 with a wharncliffe blade.

I'll never part with my regular, though the 21's handle looks like it *might* feel a bit more comfortable in hand for me.

is it just me, or do all those blade profiles look almost identical? I mean, if I saw each one individually, I wouldn't be able to differentiate one from the other.

It's just you. :p I can tell the difference between them quite distinctly.

I didn't become interested in the Sebenza 21 until I became aware of the Insingo version, probably because I own two Large Regular Sebenzas. I love the Insingo blade profile.

ive always liked the blade profile and feel of the regular better. ive never found the lock difficult to disengage, and prefer the convex spine on the scales.

the 21/classic are not bad by any means, but just not as comfortable and aesthecially pleasing to me.

now a regular handle with insigno blade would be just about perfection.

I have a 21, but would prefer it to have the classic blade profile and blasted hardware. I miss my old BG42 classic, but the 21 is definitely easier to open/close.

I EDCd a Sm. &/or Lg. Regular for the better part of Seven years! During that time, around 30 Sebenzas have passed through my hands, 8-10 of 'em being users. I always thought every "Classic" that passed through my hands was just ugly. I thought the "Large" Sebenza was just toooo large. The latter of the Seven years I ONLY carried a "plain" Lg. Reg.

A little over a year ago I bought a spankin new Lg. 21. There is no doubt that the "Regular" is more aesthetically pleasing. After carrying the Lg 21 for a year I can safely say that IMO the handle shape is better, the blade shape is more useful and it carries better.

I really used to dislike a few things about the design... One: The perfectly arced large cutout for the thumb lug. It almost seems "primitive." Two: The way the tang of the blade protrudes (more than the Reg) from the handle when closed. Three: the belly of the "Reg" is a prettier (AHEM!, manlier) design. Four: The handle of the Reg is definitely cooler looking. Definitely. Five: (now not an issue) I strongly dislike the inscription on the Classic.... "Classic MM." I just think it looks gaudy.

Honestly, now I feel the exact opposite. I think the 21 is a more elegant knife in every way and obviously every bit as functional. I think is is more comfortable. The less belly on the blade gives a broader surface area when push cutting or even standard slicing. In my uses, the belly of the blade is what requires the most maintenance. The broader surface contact seems less prone to "rolling" or just plain gettin' duller.

The ONE thing that I dislike about the 21 is the corners on the handle. If the top rear corner (the corner with the screw) could be rounded the handle would be more comfortable.

I had a large regular but really did not like the access to the thumb stud. Ended up selling it and picking up a classic. That was in 2005 and will never part with this one!!

I'm all about the Lg Regular. I've got two: one edc and one as a back up. I like it MUCH more than the 21 though I'd happily carry a 21, I'll have one of these reg's clipped in my pocket so long as I have one.
