about 2 weeks ago i posted a question here asking if i needed a regulator on my forge. i am using 2 jth7's and i changed from 2 small 2lb portable tanks to 1 20lb propane tank. i used a tee from wal-mart made by coleman that fits right into the 20lb tank. i wanted to know if i needed a tee. the general consensus was yes i did. but when i hooked it up i got a flame barely large enough to light my camel. so i unhooked it and tried it without it. it works verry good. but, the only way the fuel is regulated is with the variable knobs on the seperate torches. is this ok or dangerous? it does seem to work well.thanks.........willy:confused::confused::)

I hook mine directly to the bottle and have not had any trouble (single JTH7). I do not get excess presssure or anything that seems like it would be dangerous. Full open on the bottle and the control valve is still a very controlled flame. If fact I would like a little larger jet to get up to temp a little quicker.

You can get a regulator, pressure gauge, and hose from Darren Ellis for $48, $40 without the guauge. When your ready to upgrade to a better forge, you will already have it. Buying a quick disconnect allows you to unhook the forge ( or move the tank to another piece of equipment) without having to take the regulator off the tank. I highly recommend the quick disconnects.
