Edit: A family emergency was the cause of lack of communication and delayed shipment but ReGZ_93 has made good on the deal.

Things happen at unexpected times and communication is the key. Closed.

I'm going to summarize first then go into detail.

ReGZ_93 and I entered into a trade on Tuesday the 12th of February. My Beretta Avenger for his Protech Newport. I sent it out that day and PMed him with the tracking number. The Avenger was delivered to him on Saturday the 15 of February. I have yet to receive either a tracking number or the Protech or even a PM or email letting me know what's going on. I sent a PM on Tuesday and an email yesterday with no response.

Now while I may be jumping the gun I feel that this thread has merit for two reason.

The first being that I sent the PM on Tuesday at 4:00pm and he was last on at 4:51pm on that day. From my experience PMs don't take 50 minutes to arrive. 5 or 10 would be one thing but I highly doubt it would take close to an hour. I might be assuming but that makes me feel as though I'm being ignored.

The second reason is that another member who claimed to buy a knife from the same thread has posted in the thread asking for the whereabouts of his/her knife. I don't know their ordeal with ReGZ_93 but I will send them both a link to this thread to clear things up. Here is a link to the thread in question. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1152741-A-Couple-of-Protechs-and-a-Benchmade

Now I am hoping that something just came up and this isn't a reflection on this gentleman's character. If ReGZ_93 comes forward and lets me know whats going on and then sends preferably the Newport or at least the Avenger back in the same condition that it was sent out I will happily edit this and say that the issue is resolved. Until then...

The next post will be a more detailed description of events. I have all the PMs to back it up as well.

On 2/9/14 at 5:47pm I send a PM to ReGZ_93 asking if he would be interested in a trade. My Beretta Avenger for his Protech Newport (which was posted in the Auto for sale section). He responded timely at 7:51pm of the same day and said:

"My name edited out*,

I would love to take you up on your offer. If I don't get a serious offer for the Newport by tomorrow, It definitely take the trade. I need to get rid of some of my collection to appease the wife.

Thanks again,

His name edited out*** "

My response " Sounds good ***. Thanks and take care"

I wait until 2/11/14 at 5:38pm to see if he was still interested.

He responds at 10:53am on 2/12/14 and states:
"Hey *,

I'll take you up on your offer. Let me know where you want me to ship the knife, and I'll send it out.

My address is:

*******
*******
*******.

Thanks,

*** " Names and his address edited out.

My response.
"Cool. My address is

Edited out

Im going to the post office shortly ill mail the avenger and pm you the tracking.
Thanks and have a good day. "

I then send a PM at 1:51pm with the tracking number on the same day.

That was the last I heard from him.

The Avenger arrived to him on Saturday the 15.

I know that this past weekend was a long weekend and the Post Office was closed on Monday so I waited until Tuesday to ask if the Protech was sent out. This PM was sent at 4:00pm and he was on later that day at 4:51pm.

Still nothing. He hasn't been on BladeForums since Tuesday at 4:51pm so send him an email Friday the 20th stating that he hasn't sent a tracking or responded to my PM and asked if has sent the Protech out yet. Nothing.

Based on his sales thread it would seem that another member is having the same issue with ReGZ_93 which is what prompted this thread.

As I said, if ReGZ_93 comes through and makes good on his deal this will be edited to say so.

Everything in quotations is exactly what transcribed via PM with names and addresses edited out. If he doesn't make good that may change.

I will send him and the other member a link to this thread.

Obviously, the other party could have been doing a better job of communication (a common theme here with quite a few of these threads) but maybe there is something going on. 15th is actually Saturday and it has not even been a week, + as you stated Monday was a PO holiday. He does has some positive feedbacks and hopefully he will come through for you. OP you are right to be concerned: but maybe a little quick on the trigger to post here so fast. Hope things work out.

Yes you are correct. I misread USPS. The delivery was expected on Friday but was actually delivered on Saturday the 15. Thanks for pointing it out I will edit that.

You are right that communication is the key.

It has been less than a week since he received his end but it's been 9 days without communication.

I by no means want to smear someone's name, but if you get on and don't answer a PM in regards to someone else's property, that leads me to believe I've been ignored. It also looks as though someone else is having a similar situation with the same member. (Appears to be based on the sales thread. I sent a VM to Watson and if he wants to come speak is mind he can. I don't know what happened between them besides what is public.)

I prefer to nip this is the bud while something can be done about it, if at the very least warn others of possibly questionable behavior. Better that then wait another two weeks and it happens to more members.

Like I said I will happily edit this when it is resolved positively

I got a knife off ReGz in that same sells thread, and it went very smooth. I know this doesn't help you, but maybe he is having something serious going on. Nine days with no communication is a long time though.

Did he contact you as he was just online?
No, as of this post i havent heard anything. I sent him links via VM, PM, and email.

I did notice and found it odd that one transaction in a sales thread could go smooth and merit positive feedback while at least one other person is left hanging.

Of course i hope nothing bad has happened but a 2 minute email to keep me updated would go along way.

ReGZ_93 has contacted me through a very nice email. He had some family emergencies that needed his attention which must take priority of course. Tracking number was sent and it looks like this will work out well.

Will update once it is complete.

A two minute E-mail is all the time it would have taken to avert this in totality. Again, and probably the 1000th time by the 100th person; "communication is the key to a smooth deal."

The knife arrived today in the described condition.

This was just another example of life taking unexpected turns and ReGZ_93 made good on his commitments. I hope all is well with him and his family.
