I hate to sell either of these but I really want some new equipment, mainly a real drill press, and not a piece of junk from Lowes. PM me or email me at huntermartin77 ATTT hotmail DOTT com
So here they are, up for grabs are a rehandled M6 and a rehandled scrap Max 460. I want to fully disclose every little flaw on these knives before I sell them.
Ill start with the M6
This knife was used in its previous life but was in really good shape. It started out as a black CG model. I would not recommend battoning or other hard use applications with this knife. Stabliized wood is not as strong as micarta or G10 and if hit with a baton it could possibly fracture.
I gave it a home spun satin finish and while it looks great I don't think it's as perfect as the factory. Its finished to 240 grit on a nylon mesh wheel. The hamon is extremely visible. There are some light horizontal tooling marks on both sides of the blade and some vertical ones near the choil/ finger guard that I was unable to buff out but they really are not very noticeable. The ones on the blade are only visible in good light. Also there are some tooling marks on the spine and belly of the handle.
The handle is Underground curly Koa with canvas micarta and orange G10 liners and micarta pins. I sealed the handle with a double coat of boiled linseed oil. It looks amazing and is more rustic looking than a standard lacquer finish that I feel makes the knife look like a piece of furniture.
This knife is NOT perfect. There are a few minor flaws that I want to fully disclose to the buyer. First off on the butt end of the handle there is a small nick in the G10 liner with causes it to not line up perfectly with the metal. Its very small but you can feel it with a finger nail. Second there is a little bit of splintering around the middle pin on one side- I think this is the biggest flaw on the knife. 3rd- there is a small pinhole by the first pin. I don't really consider this to be a flaw since its a natural part of the wood but some may. I just think it give the handle character
I think this knife is amazing and you will be very happy with it. Make sure to take a look at the wood in the sunlight.
Looking for $315 shipped
There is a drop of water on the blade in this pic.
here are some of the marks on the handle
Next up is the Scrap Max 460.
This knife has never been used. I rehandled it with boxed micarta and curly koa with micarta liners. It turned out absolutely fantastic. The only flaws on this knife are some dimpling/ nippling around the metal pins- where sanding causes the material around the pins to cone ever so slightly. You can notice it if you look at the right angle but its not at all noticeable in hand. Also there is a very small of glue that got pushed out from the scale onto the ricasso. I don't want to remove it because I think it provides a very solid barrier to moisture and its not very noticeable.
Looking for 289- 265- NOW $259 shipped.
