I used Tomar's website, I couldn't find any Canadian dealers with it yet.
BK21 - $144.64
Shipping 42.95
Total 187.59
Exchange rate raises it to 246.99 (according to exchange rate on web, in actual practice if you use PayPal or Visa, it seems that they take an additional bit)
Sales tax (that we get sometimes get dinged with, more often than not) -$32.11
Customs handling fee - $10
Total - $289.10-

The exchange rate is what really takes a kick at the can. It's too bad it didn't come out when it was first announced because the exchange rate was pretty close to even.

Holy crap Doc. Want me to buy one here and ship it to you ? Would that be cheaper ? Somebody has got to hook you up.

Yeah, I don't think its an outrageous price. It just falls into the "almost three times more expensive than any other knife I've ever purchased for any reason ever" category for me, which makes it seem a bit pricey. I guess I was just hoping for something closer to (but still north of) the BK9's price.

It won't surprise me if the price go's up its that nice . I hope it don't tough .

I agree, but only if you live in the U.S. In Canada, with the exchange rate, shipping, customs handling charge and sales tax, the price is $289.10.

Yup, still waiting for the Canadian suppliers to get stock. Little nervous about what the price will be…

Hmmm... I got a BK5 off the Exchange last year and the shipping cost from Canada didn't seem high, something like US$10.

Except with the exchange that's $22.50 ;) (kidding)

Every knife that I've had shipped up from somebody via USPS was done flat rate box shipping for $22.50 usd (currently 29.60cad). Last 3 were from Guyon, Cbear, and Dex. Poor Guyon needed to ration his lunch money for a few weeks after what he paid to ship to me :( still feel bad for him.

Silverthorn, thank you very much for the very kind offer, but it's not necessary. Besides, that wouldn't do anything to change the exchange rate and probably not an awful lot to reduce the shipping, either.

Since I posted, I checked Canadian dealer prices of other Beckers, and although they cost more, compared to U.S. dealers, it's not as much difference as it would be from Tomar's, or probably any other U.S. dealers, so maybe Aikiguy, above, has a point. Will have to wait and see what Canadian dealer prices are going to be.

What dealers are you thinking Aikiguy? Somebody other than W&W?

Did that include insurance? Unfortunately, dealers can charge whatever they want for shipping. I can't remember what I paid to Dex when I ordered 2 Machax (es) (en). Anyway, it's not so much the shipping that's the problem, as the exchange rate, and of course, Canada Customs getting their pound of flesh.

Yeah Doc my go to sites are W&W, and, uh, Mr "rhymes-with-wife".[emoji3] They seem to have best prices on Beckers, even compared to the river store. Unfortunately they're not showing them yet - although I'm catching myself checking multiple times a day. Thinking that buying here's gotta save on all the border crossing fees BS. Hopefully they'll get them in soon, or else I'll just have to wait for the dollar to crawl outta the sewer before ordering it.

I got mine this morning. I have not had a chance to use it. I will say that I love that it has the old coating and it is the nicest Becker I have seen grind wise. It seems they stepped it up a notch.

Also, 710's sheath is outstanding for the price. I didn't even give the stock sheath a chance. Lol
