I have a Reinhardt Kukri that I had always assumed was a "becker". However on several of the threads here, the Reinhardt Kukri pictures show the BKT marking on the blade. Mine has no markings, were all of them maked or could mine be a knock off?

Thanks

Thanks for the link, my blade has the becker style handle, but just a grey coating with no logo on the blade.

Hey Bill....

Blackjack produced a lot of "gray" BECKERs....Some have speculated that they were "sterile" but, the much more prosaic truth is that Mikey could not figure out how to mark them!!!!!

All Best...

Thank you Ethan for the reply and for the Becker line of knives. I have really enjoyed using all of my Beckers. I just wish I had aquired a Brute while they were available.

Very nice, thank you. Is the gray a finish or some kind of coating. Looks like a coat of some thing. Does it being unmarked increase or decrease its collector value?

The gray is a coating of some sort, looks almost like paint.

As for value, some one else will have to offer an opinion on than.

An interesting thing about the grips is they are interchangable with my BK 9, even though they appear to be from a different casting process (maybe a different material), the dimensions are identical.

Hey Bill...

The gray coating is a primitive "powder coat".......They have as they say ....come a looooong waaay baby!!!!............It works, but that is all I am gonna say for it ...It always reminded me of what a less successful, low level, bureauocrat would pick for a trendy desk color.....

Thanks. You are right things have come a long long way. I do recall when powder coat was supposed to mean bullet proof. Have you ever experimented with DuraCoat or GunKote. Actually not a Becker knife question. Or at least it is not one of your knives I am thinking of putting on, but since you are the pro thought you may have some insight

Hey Bill....

Estaloc, the resin that BK&T was using during the Effingham era was very tough but, it had a real variable shrink rate - a manufacturing nightmare in fact....The scales rarely fit the blades soooo they had to be hand fitted before coating....Hence the "matching" numbers....It was very tough elephant snot, but, not as tough as the Grivory we use now....The Grivory was Phil Gibbs's idea and, it was a damned good one too....

All Best...
