Hey Bill....
Estaloc, the resin that BK&T was using during the Effingham era was very tough but, it had a real variable shrink rate - a manufacturing nightmare in fact....The scales rarely fit the blades soooo they had to be hand fitted before coating....Hence the "matching" numbers....It was very tough elephant snot, but, not as tough as the Grivory we use now....The Grivory was Phil Gibbs's idea and, it was a damned good one too....

some of it even seems to have shrunk over time, though it could simply have been one of those fitment issues. yeah, i have a lot of old ones.
