Anyone had any luck rejoining grinding belts? I have a number of new belts that have been stored too long and the joints will no longer hold. An internet search does not turn up a source for either the tape or anyone that performs the service.

got a belt maker up here who does this for me at $1 per belt. I had 6-8 cork belts that hold up well FOREVER. Joint gives way well b4 belt is worn out. Man is in Hickory, NC if this helps anybody out there.
Preventive maintennance tip....find some thin grey duct tape and run a strip about 6" both sides of the belt joint. this seems to greatly expand belt joint life and "bump" at contact wheel is minimal.

i tried regular super glue on a belt a few weeks ago and its still going. i have a few other belts i'm going to try it on. i have some belts that are new but many years old and tend to come apart. i'll try putting some sparingly on them to see if they last longer than the others like them i have tried. i think the trick is not using too much glue.

Thanks Cap. Deb and I really enjoyed BLADE....felt like the "old days". GREAT source for custom made belts and belt repair is Pete McKinney, from about 40 miles down the road from us(near Hickory, NC). phone is 828/2562760 Paul Fox buys most of his belts from Pete, he shares my views....good man, good work. I run my Bader space-saver at 3450 rpm and when one of thos 2x132" 36 grit belts breaks it kinda gets my attention. Have a fun 4th. Best regards, Tim
