REK Ember fixed blade discussion thread

Is this where all the cool kids spend time there time away from Nathan? 🤣

I need a more EDC friendly fixed blade so please add my name to the list for 2.5.

REK virgin here but hopefully that can be rectified by years end
I too used to be a virgin with REK, once you get one in hand well for a small blade is is really hard to beat and can take a beating.

Thanks. It’s up to two now. Coleman is probably quivering in his boots. 🤣 🤣
This is what you are up against, E. 😁

I forgot one in the photo…but I’ll add another photo when a couple more Embers show up.
The Quarantine on the right and the Ember 2.5 beside it are a compound grind pairing.

Oh. My. God.

I definitely need one. I wonder if I supply my own mIcarta if I can get a custom one? I sent the same stuff to a competitor for a custom, and hope nobody would be offended.

So, my new Ember 3.0 DP arrived yesterday but it was a pretty busy day and little time to play with or appreciate my new toy.

It's a fantastic knife, and the grinds are beautiful. (Yeah, it's sharp too.)

I hooked up a DCC Mod 4 Universal clip and it works but is not ideal because of somewhat limited hand clearance. Still works, though. (Be careful resheathing.) I think a Mod W might be better choice assuming the hole alignment can work with the clip's .90" separation on center.

Of course, I have Coleman's sheath for it as well, and since this is the Drop Point, I have less chance of sending myself to the ER for even more stitches in case of user error.

I think Josh might have a future in this biz, if he can just try to pay more attention to the details.

(That's a joke son..., I say...that's a joke. (Insert Foghorn Leghorn voice-over.)

Alright, decided to experiment and removed the top screw and moved the clip down using only the top slot of the clip. Makes access to the knife and resheathing much easier...but since it's only one screw, there is the potential for the clip to move. (I did not Loctite.)

The fit doing it this way is much closer to how Coleman's leather sheath fits in pocket for those who have one.

My public service announcement for the day. Try it, you may like it.

Well you (or I) can always drill a new hole to make it more compatible 🤣

Same here...just got a chance to open'er up. This thing is wicked! Totally different vibe compared to the Cowbell. Was originally thinking of a 2.5, but glad I went with the 3.0.

One minor thing. The way the lanyard hole is drilled causes a bit of a sharp point on each scale. Will knock'em down when I get a chance.

That looks defective John, I’ll have to take it off your hands. 🤣
