REKAT Escalator....

does anyone have any info on the REKAT Escalator, i saw a post on the REKAT forum which mentioned it, said it was similar to the spyderco gunting, and was interested - anyone got any info/pics? thanks and hope all have a good week....

wow - thanks for the pics - didnt think it would look so much alike - think i'll get the spydie version though - i wonder how many were made? any collector possibilities...? anyway thanks again, saw the post about it and got to wondering ...

There is similarity. I designed both.The Escalator was my first design and it was made by REKAT.
19 months ago its name, production and sales were offically and legally ended.
SPYDERCO aquired the rights to my design.
There is no REKAT Gunting.
Technically there is no REKAT Escalator.
 
I went to the 2000 Blade Show in hopes of getting a Gunting. Well, they weren't available for the public then but Sal and Bram are very kind and let me play with the trainer. Searching the show I found an Escalator and played with it for awhile. I finally got the Spyderco Gunting and I like it alot more than the Rekat. Much smoother action and I like the Spyderhole in the blade
