I'm just now starting to get into these knives and trying to find out about them.Did they use a liner lock before the rolling lock? How long have they been in buisiness?I'm interested in the pioneers and wandering if some of the older ones have liner locks in them.I want the rolling lock, just curious about the history.Thanks.

We have only made Rolling Locks our first offering was the Pocket Hobbit, which was the reason we invented the Rolling Lock. Because the back of the knife is used in CQB we needed a lock to take the pressure.

Thanks. So when a pioneer is discribed as being an older model does it mean that it just has the lock release in the front end of the knife instead of on the side(new model).I thought I read that there was a detent ball used to hold the blade closed. Was it used in the same way that a liner lock uses one?

The early pioneers used a ball detent, some of the front lever use the Rollin Lock to hold the blade closed as the side lever modles do, and there is a few hybreds that have the side lever and a ball detent.
Currently we are working on three exciting projects besides the Sifu.
One is the Wakatan folding sword with the new STUD Lock (now aint that a MACHO name), A full Sized Warrior fixed blade and an injection molded Pioneer Sized Rolling Lock series which will be D-2 steel and retail less than $70.00. There are also two famous maker collabrations in the works so we are busy here.

Bob -- I hope to God this will be my first REKAT! When you say retail, does it mean suggested retail? Any ETA?

Any more info on the injection molded knives. Sounds great.

Hell yeah! Anything with a rolling lock and D2 for less than $70 works for me! Again, are we talking about $70 suggested? That would be awfully cool and it WOULD be my first REKAT.

Bob this is GREAT news!!
I was hoping we would see more D-2 in production folders.
The way you guys have done such a great job at treating ATS34, I can hardly wait to get one of your blades in D-2.
Man! Life IS good!!

Does the blade on the roller lock pull closed like a lockback or a BM Axis or does it wimp out like a linerlock?
