You guys are great!
Knives fascinated me as a youngster. Unfortunately, my mom was the nervous type so I never got to indulge my knife desires. I remember arguing why I should be allowed to sharpen my Cub Scout knife! Lost interest for a long time. Now at 32 years of age the last few coals of passion are rekindled and burning hot! Your enthusiasm is a big part of it. Throw on the fuel!
Got myself a BM 705 about 4 weeks ago, with more toys on the way. (Even a custom, I'll let you know when the goodies get here.
) The other Dave in the office just got a new knife that shreds paper a little better so tonight I put the BM on a Lansky, followed Joe T's sharpening FAQ, and knocked the edge angle down from about 25 to 20 degrees. I stopped at the 280 grit on the belly and point, but gave the base of the blade a few swipes with the 600. It's so scary I'm having nightmares wide awake.
Another addict ... and it's all your fault!
