I've recently discovered the joy of sitting back next to my dog and slicing off bites of a cool crisp apple with my pocket knife while listenin' to some good music.
I have found this a good way to relax and forget about everything that's going on, whatever it may be I can just forget about it for a few minutes.
It's even better if I can soak up some sunshine out in my yard on a warm day.

It reminds me that one really doesn't need much to be happy, you just gotta find a way to slow things down and relax once in a while.

For me it's an apple, some summer sausage and a bit of sharp cheddar sitting on the back deck rocking in absolute silence. If I'm real lucky I have one of those Cokes from Mexico that still uses real cane sugar. Don't care if if it is warm or cold out there...as long as it's dry.

Not long before reality slaps me in the back of the head. Sounds of kids fighting, someone is crying now, dog is bringing me some half rotted carcass he is very proud to have found....or worse he has greasy streaks on his back and has been rolling around in skunk spray.

Those couple minutes of silence though really charge my battery.

Yup, then gross, but also yup.

2 traditionals in my pocket, one on my belt, Bach Brandenburg Concertos playing in the background (what can I say? I like classical) sitting at the computer, reading Blade Forums. All I'm missing is a two liter of Mtn. Dew. (or a pint of dark beer, ale or mead, which is not allowed here.)
A can of Skoal Apple flavor is within reach, too. :)

A couple weeks ago a small dead oak branch fell in the yard. The kids were arguing over the computer. I went out back with one oh my new stockman and made several feather sticks with the 80s station playing on the phone and a hard apple cider on the table. Most relaxing hour in a long time.
I settled the computer argument by shutting off the WiFi. The wife ended up trying out her sak on another stick. Unfortunately the kids got bored and came and asked about dinner. Ended the relaxin time

Don't do the chaw thing or listen to classical music, but I sure love me some Mountain Dew.
Relaxing in the warm sunshine with my pooch with a cold beverage always a good way to relax in the spring, gotta be in the shade during the summer, and inside during the winter but a cold soda is always a good way to go.

Skoal is how I quit the coffin nails after 35 odd years of smoking 2 -3 packs a day.
The gum and patches did not work for me.
No cigarette in going on 13 years. :) (Excluding dreams. Once on a while I smoke (and dip) in me dreams, daRn it. :( )

Never have never will ( this goes for alcohol, drugs...ect, never touched any of it ) , but I don't judge and I'm glad you were able to quit smoking.
My grandmother just told me yesterday she's trying again to quit, I sure hope it takes this time then maybe my mom will follow suit.

In the winter, I sit in front of the wood stove. Make a fresh cup of coffee and whittle or strop or coon finger some knives. The wife goes to work earlier than I so I have a half hour where the house is quiet to sip strong joe, maybe listen to music, maybe not, and relax. If there is fur to skin I might delve into that. Makes for a great way to start the morning and I feel much more positive through the day.
