the east german or tantal is the best imho.

i dont like the ace/tromix/tapco/collapsible/etc, i dont like how they look.

they work ok i suppose but look funky to me.

I would have to say with everything you want to do to your AK, the stock, scope mount, etc....you would be better off buying the AR to start with. The DPMS Sportical has been selling for 800.00 on gunbroker and other places. While that is 230 higher than the Ak you mentioned buy the time you added the mods to your AK you would have been better off with the AR.

Tapco makes good quality goods and everything I have heard about their customer service has been good as well. When it comes to a scope mount ideally you want the mount and the barrel to be mounted to the same piece of steel so a receiver mount would be best.

well, i think it depends on if ya want an AR or AK, they are both good i dont know that ya would be "better off" with either one, it just depends on what ya want/what ya can afford/what ya plan on doing with it.

back in the day when i 1st started modding mine they were a lot cheaper to mod, not so much nowadays though.

Na I do think that the Iron Dot is the way I am going to go and I wonder if they have a shop set up in Georgetown where you can buy the Iron Dot directly from them?

i dont know, i have been threatening to find 'em and check 'em out for a while now but havent yet.

i dont know why not, its probably less than 10 mins from my house lol.
