Reliable and durable desktop workstation (PC)? HP, DELL, ???

Actually, keyboard and mouse are now Bluetooth and printers and scanners are on your home network via WiFi. Increasingly, cameras are also wireless either via Bluetooth or WiFi.

My calculator and GPS still connect via serial port. lol. Now those are getting hard to come by on new boards. :)
Most mice available are USB, although PS/2 is still common. Some motherboards now don't have PS/2 plugs or they only have one, so you have to pay attention when ordering. The new keyboard I bought last month is PS/2, but I think the same model is alternatively available in USB.
Cameras and other new peripherals also have the convenience of using removable memory cards, which is an excellent feature only as long as the computer has a card reader. MY GPS and calculators don't, but all the cameras do and the kid's new GPS does too.
Haven't seen a wireless camera yet; I have three cameras I use, all are modern and big-brand, and all are USB.
The new eSATA plugs that most new motherboards offer is a huge feature too for people using external drives for backup or storage. Strange the NUC doesn't at least have one eSATA plug.

Something odd I just noticed about the NUCs, assuming the onboard sound is half-decent in the first place, there's no place to plug in speakers. Now that's odd. Guess it doesn't matter, 'cause without an optical drive you can't play CDs or watch DVDs anyway.
Installing software must be a PITA too. Use another computer to copy the installation files from the CDs/DVDs to a flash drive? Only intended to install software from the internet? It comes with every piece of software imaginable pre-installed?
