New to knife making and want to try with 1084 . . . Can't seem to find it in stock. Hoping for 3/16 x 2 x 10 or 12 long.

Thanks,

Len

It is far wiser to buy it in 36" and 48" bars. 3/16" (.187") is really thick. I rarely use thicker than .125"

Aldo, at New Jersey Steel Baron carries it, as well as several other knife suppliers.
He is out of 3/16", but .157"X2"X48" is in stock at $28.68

To all who will listen! We are currently trying to empty the supply of steel in our Connecticut Warehouse. We will have about 120,000 lbs. being delivered before the 23rd of this month. There is a BUTT LOAD of 1084 coming down along with a BUTT LOAD of a whole bunch of other stuff! We more then doubled our orders this year over last and we are hoping to keep on top of things so that we do not run out. There are a lot of new members in our industry and we figured to much is always better than not enough. We just haven't been able to do it up until now. There will be a container or 2 coming in every month from now until December. Our future orders with the mill, beyond that point, will be to help us to sustain or stock.(Bunches of it!) We will also be introducing more sizes to many of the grades we have and new products as well. For those who have been waiting we thank you for your patience.

I hope this helps,
Aldo

Nice.
More 1075 to I hope.

Aldo, did you ever think any more about those Hitachi equivalents?

I think about it every day Joe, but right now we're trying to figure out where to put what we've got coming.

That sounds like a good problem to have, sir. This whole steel supplier to the stars gig seems to be working well for you. :D How many darn warehouses have you had to rent? I thought I remembered you having to expand your space significantly in Jersey at least once a few years back.
