2nd Bn (Airborne) 508th Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division Ft Bragg NC - 1976-80.

Live ammo is a very sobering thing to be issued. But we knew what if was for, and there would be no hesitation doing our job.

I got a note from the gentleman who put up Blood of Heroes, and he is a very like-minded American. He gave me heart amid this disgusting vanilla PC world we're bombarded with on one side, and those members of our government who would sacrifice our freedoms on the other.

Now would be a good time to step back to those core values of our Independence and remember that freedom is not security, nor is it free -- and neither is it permanent on its own. If we dont' insist our freedom and liberty remain, they will go away, will go quietly away, worn away by those who do not want to assume responsibilty for themselves...

Powerful stuff. I'm not ashamed to say it brought a tear to my eye. I have two friends that I served with who were at ground zero on Sept 11. One is a police officer, and the other is a fireman. They both made it through. Like I said, we served together- in the first Persian Gulf War. It pisses me off that we weren't allowed to finish the job we started 10 years before that day- 9/11/01.

scott, it's good to see you on here and it was nice meeting you
a few weeks ago please stop by again anytime...don't get lost in maxfield :D

Hey Dan,
I haven't forgotten about the knife we talked about. I just have quite a few irons in the fire right now so to speak. I'll stop by soon with those pics we talked about. See You soon!

US ARMY 1990-2001 Till you have a man on the left and one on the right fighting to keep each other alive you will never know real trust.

To those who were with me I'll never forget. To those who gave all on the battlefield you will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

Thank you for the honor to serve among you

Mike

I have always been, and always will be proud as hell to have served my country(USMC 1977-1981. Aviation Ordnanceman). To those of you who served your country while bad guys were shooting at them, I salute you even more!

How is it that so many otherwise intellegent people forget so quickly?

I don't think that anyone "been there" will forget.
But too many of those who benefit from their sacrifice do.
Unfortunately those who do, are the same who scoff at these shows of patriotism (which is more than that of course, as we should ALL be grateful). I find it disgusting.

1959 to 1963 US Marine Corps, 1963 to 1979 US Army, 1968 and 1969 Vietnam and I'd do it all over again if I could.
