Remember the thread I called Pokhara sunrise? Here's part of what I saw.

In an old thread named "Pokhara Sunrise" I recalled the magic of watching the sunrise over the Himal to the north of town. Here is a little of what I saw.

Look familiar, Howard?

This is Mt. Macchapuchare (fishtail), the dominant mountain in this section of the Himal at about 23,000 feet as I recall. It looks quite different here in broad daylight and showing only the tiny section of the Himal that could be squeezed into a photo.

Yes Bill, it does.

Unfortunately no photograph I’ve ever seen has captured the scope and majesty of that mountain scene. As I recall, sometimes the mountains seemed to fill the sky around Pokhara. Your essay on the sunrise (at http://www.knifeforums.com/ubb/Forum27/HTML/000305.html ) does more to relay the awesome grandeur.

A picture may be worth a thousand words but there are some things a camera simply cannot capture. The Himal is one of them.

Very stunning daylight shot Bill, I could only imagine what you felt and saw. When something special happens in one's life at a certain place and time, it truly does become magical.
