Do you old Hogs remember not so long ago when, if you searched here and in a couple of other knife sites, and you found three Busses for sale, plus one or more on that auction site, it was a real good day?

Do you remember searching in frustration and finding not a single aftermarket Busse, day after day?

Ah, but occasionally people did not know what they had, and you could snatch up real bargains if you got there first. Like the BM-E, the SH-E, and the Public Defender for which I paid $200 or less each, or the $232 Clip Point Desert NO-E.:D Lots of Busses for sale but not so many bargains any more.

Yeah, when I got here it was almost impossible to snag a GW from BCS, and not easy to get one on the exchange. Now I've seen many under cost on exchange.

Man has time changed fast, PLENTY of Busse's being made today.

I for one miss the old days when you had to look for a Busse. For some reason that made me want them more.

Just a few years ago, I bought a SHBM for 400. Times got tough and I though wow 550 is a great offer, so I sold it. Little did I know....did the same thing with one of my SFNO's.

from 2003 on I've been able to get my hands on every busse I really wanted, and a few i didn't know I wanted but ended up liking a lot.

it just took more work and time 5 years ago. you had to wait on the wtb forum for a month or more before anyone responded. there are more high stakes players now that are likely to have something in transition, and a lot more smaller collections that are like mine, always fluctuating in and out of the market.

but still there are certain models that are rare and hard to get ahold of - like killer bee's. I'd love to have one, but now they're 325-450$, tending towards the higher side. "Back in the day" they were only 200-250$. and theres only be a scant few sold in the past 4 years here, so even tracking down really old sale threads that are possibly still available is no-go.

not that they were plentiful 4 years ago, but the price made them more worth while for the running around you had to do.

It is hard to complain when you can get ahold of a ratmandu, dumpstermutt, ffbm, and 20 custom variations of sj's, gw's, ad's, noe's, hr's and lmrs all at the same time on any given day.

THAT I definitely remember. customs and varients were rare, few and far between. and ALL of them inevitably ended up in the hands of the bully.

I remember when it was hard to score a Busse- it wasn't that long ago. Now it seems like we have hot and cold running INFI. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but the thrill of the hunt has been somewhat diminished of late. The increase in supply does seem to have reduced the knife flipping on the exchange. If you were so inclined, you could buy a knife for $200 and then turn around and sell it for $300 the day you received it. (I never did this, but there were plenty who did) You don't see that any more.

It's harder to score Swamp Rat and Scrapyard blades now than it is to get a Busse.

I remember my first year(2000) as a Busse dealer telling people who brought old Busses to shows that " I am a seller not a Buyer" and turning down those older BBSHSHs that the people wanted to get $50.00 trade-in value towards an INFI knife.

By my 2nd year (2001)all that had changed an I was actively buying for $100.00 to as much as $300.00 for the older knives, particularly the ones with Logos.

Back then the common price for a Straight Handled Battle Mistress on the forums was $500.00 and a deal was $400.00.

On the otherhand, people still call me up and or email me and ask the values of their Busse knives, and I tell them, and I direct them to this place to sell them.

Some times they insist on selling me the knife for about double the price I retailed the knives to them 6+ years ago, even though I tell them that they can get much more right here in the for sale Forums.

So, remember that the "Good Old Days" are right here right now and that at some point you will miss what you can do easily today.

Times are Good, right now.

I have seen days with $20,000.00 in Busse knives for sale on the front page of the for sale forums, and for the most part those knives sold in under a week.

Dang Andre, next time that happens, drop me a note, I'll give them at least that and a little something for the trouble. :D

You made me weep a little bit. :) Ah nostalgia.

I remember when I was too stupid to buy a SH-anything for what I thought were unreasonable prices.

I'd love a SHBM just to have one. But I won't pay the going rate - still. I remember tehm $400 SHBM's and $600 BBSHSH's. "$600??? Who in their right minds would pay that."

I also remember passing on a Proto in green/black. Never seen something run up as fast as that.

I just wished Id been here for those days!

but

would somebody just change the damn current offerring @ Busse atleast by this Thursday morning.

Yeah the day after the ganza makes sense.:):)

I do indeed remember those days when Busse Combat knives were rare. Now with increased production coupled with a increasingly tough economic situation, Busse knives are plentiful.

I remember when any 'variant' from the normal production line was an amazing catch. Now you can buy them most any day of the week, at prices that are slightly higher than production models.

I searched for a ABA LE forever. Same with the satin Meaner Street.

Since I got them, those two have risen in value, but they're not going anywhere.

I put a WTB on the Exchange for SHBMs and got three offers to sell at around $600.

I only bought one of them. :(

I also walked to school in the snow everyday. Uphill. Both ways.

Gas was 99 cents a gallon, and people actually smiled when they provided you with a service. :p

And then there was this one I found in the yard sale...

Wow! Buy a sheath that is worth every penny of $40 and get a $1000 knife for FREE!!! That's the deal of the century.

Sign of the times.
If you have the cash get what you can,it will not last forever.
Last time gas took a big jump 3 or 4 years back I was seeing great deals on the forums.I saw an AT Barr sit for over a week 150.00 before it sold.

I think your right, now is a great time to buy. And the more sought after Busse's havn't went down a bit, only up as far as I can tell. Wish I had been here when the HOGFSH LE came out, I gave a bit more than retail for the one that came today.

Ahh the days of $217 Lean Means, $227 SJ's, $297 SHSHII's, $347 SHBM's are long gone...

I even hauled NO-e's around from show to show and thought they would NEVER sell...

Same with a certain Flying Badger...musta hauled it around for over 2 years...

Oh well.... c'est la vie eh???

yes I would love to see similar offers on 3 barf for 797????

or something rediculous.

I seem to recall a few "OMG 600$ for a shsh?!?" and thinking roughly the same thing myself.

it's the gas prices I tells ya.

$400.00 for this $500.00 for that
$4.00 a gallon gasoline
Chicken leg1/4s still $4.78 for a 10lb bag at wally world
I gotta get a freaking bigger truck:grumpy::grumpy:

Chickenplucker aka Pigletplucker

I'm fairly new to Busse, but I like it when I can buy a knife that I want and don't have to search two years for it and pay 3 times the original price.
