We just got to remember to keep our "Welcome and Helpful" hats on as this community goes through this crazy growth spurt.
Doe's any of this mean I have to be less crabby, smile more and be nice to dogs and children? I'm not sure I can compromise my core values.
Suddenly, the world is starting to see what we've known about for a long time, and new people are showing up every day to learn more about Becker.
People new to Becker had to have had a favorite knife before, so there are bound to be inevitable "I think this is better" type stuff.
You learn fast. Normally I'd give Clich shit about the BK5 (not a fan) but since he is chiching my PB....THE BK5 RULEZ!!!!
Tanner, I went back and re-read your OP. With all due respect, I agree with what you are saying, but I feel like posting it at all implies the OGs have somehow greeted our new members with something less than a warm welcome. Someone just dropping in could draw that conclusion from reading it. We have excellent moderators and I feel certain (if that were the case) they would step in to stop any rough treatment. That may not be what your intention was, but it does imply it. I think your heart is in the right place, I just don't think a lecture was needed to stem a trend of newb abuse. I just haven't seen it here. This place is about as good natured as it gets anywhere on the net.
"This isn't stemming from any one thing or person or event. Just something that occured to me today"
All I was saying is that in the past, on occasion people get agitated with repetitive questions, if only because they've been here longer. But we've never had such a huge influx of people as we are having now, and I'm betting a lot of those types of posts are going to start flying in like never before. We used to pick up new members in a trickle, now it's a flood.
I'm going to try and take a break for a bit. I think some are starting to get "Tannered-out". A few more weeks and my wife will be off for the summer and I wont be stuck at home on the internet so much driving people nuts.
Just don't want anybody wandering in to get the wrong impression T. I'm not the least bit Tannered out. Hang in there man, and I really do appreciate and agree with your sentiment.
