Remington 870?

academy in austin Tx has 870's on sale this week for $199 after a $30 rebate from remington not a bad price for possibly the best pumpgun ever made..........

$125 is a great price.

Careful though.

870s are a little like Lay's potato chips.

Is it an Express? If not, even better score.:thumbup:

I picked up a very clean 870 Magnum (looks like the precursor to the Police Magnum) with parkerized finish and RS deer barrel (cyl bore fixed) for $185 at a recent show.

Goes well with my SP Deer Model.

Nice to find inexpensive non-Express guns.

What bites is finding a good deal on a barrel, and finding it is the non-detent equipped Express version.:thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn:

I have been around rifles and pistols all my life but I am just starting to get into shotguns, could you please elaborate on what the Express version is and why you dislike it?

Ditto. I have two with extra barrels and stocks for each. One in 12ga and a 1961 Wingmaster in 20.
I'm always on the look out for No.3.

Congrats again!

I have an 870 Wingmaster, and a beautiful Browning Citori Lightning for upland bird hunting... I always reach for the Wingmaster first.

I also just bought an 870 tactical. Love it.

I need to add another Wingmaster to my collection :)

Check out the Cabela's bargin bins for the extra barrels. I got a rifled slug barrel with adjustable sights for mine at the Cabela's bargin bin in Kearny for only $100 and it was a new barrel with only one little scratch on it. The 870 is the most durable pump shotgun you can get dude. I saw problems with both the Mossbergs and Winchesters during my 9 yrs in the military as a range master and armorer and the 870 is by far the most durable of them all. Drop it in the mud, sand, dirt, water and it will keep pumpin rounds down range.

the express version is made of lower quality materials if I am correct mine is a wingmater

Agreed that the stock material is better and that the finish (glossy versus the Remington "parkerized") is nicer on the Wingmasters. However, as far as function goes, the Express versions are hard to beat for the price.

The express is not made of lower quality materials. The stock is birch or synthetic, the parts of the gun itself are the same they are just not finished to the extent of the wingmaster. I've had both and liked both. the 870 is probably the best pump gun on the market, and has been for quite some time. later, ahgar
