I saw these sheaths on the Remington web site and on the internet selling for between 35 and 40 bucks.
However there is not much information on them. Anyone have one or know the dimensions ? I was wondering if it would fit a BK2

Im not sure about the remington sheath, but I do know they will fit in the spec ops sheath. Add a decent leg strap, like the ones that come on an ontario ASEK sheath and you got the same setup.

Is saw those at SMKW, they are made in Italy, and look to fit the BK2, but the insert is removable, so you can take it out, float it in some boiling water, and size it for the BK2 if it won't fit. I was going to get one, but I got a better deal on another sheath, that I think is better. Try 'em out, and post up a review.

I looked over the course of several weeks to find the size of the Remington Tactical Sheath but never found a definitive measurement. Whenever I Googled it this thread was one of the top results so I thought I would help others out. I apologize if this is in the wrong place or if the sheath has already been discussed to death in another thread.

I bought the sheath from Amazon for $23 (price varies by color/availability). Here are the measurements with images. I'm hosting the images so they may disappear without notice.

Length of plastic insert (longest reasonable knife length) from the top opening of the insert to the top of the hole for the screw (removed in picture) 6 inches. Width of opening at top 2.25 inches. Depth of opening (blade thickness) just under 0.25 inches. The insert can probably be heated and molded, those are the measurements as it comes from Remington. You could fit a longer blade in if you don't mind the tip going to one side of the screw that secures the insert to the sheath. In the image you can see the molded part that was made to fit the blade, it's open at the bottom so you can slide a longer blade to the bottom. The total length of the sheath from tip to tail, with the dangling top belt loop, is 16.5 inches. Without the dangling belt loop it's 12.5 inches.

Overall the sheath appears to be relatively high-quality with a bunch of different mounting options (molle and leg). The accessory pouch on the front is big, big enough to easily hold a strikeforce fire starter. The only other stand-alone sheath I have to compare it to is the Spec-Ops Combat Master (long) and compared to that the Remington is worth about what I paid. The material and stitching on the Remington aren't nearly as good as the Spec-Ops but for half the price of the Spec-Ops it works. I wouldn't pay more than $35 for it, regardless of color.

Very interesting.
I'm going to need something for the BH BK-10.

How big is that pouch?
Is the handle strap snap or velcro?

I've seen these before. I think I have the page bookmarked somewhere.

Thanks for posting that up, onlymica. We've all been curious about those sheaths, I guess some of us were too scared to buy'em.

Welcome to the Becker forum, and Bladeforums, glad your here. Thanks for making us your first post, appreciate that.

Do you have any BKT's to put in that sheath?:D

The pouch is approximately 4 inches deep and tapers from about 2.75 x 1.25 inches wide at the top to nothing at the bottom. It would hold a rectangular mass of about 3.5 x 2.25 x 1 inches completely within the pouch. The flap that covers the front pouch is completely removable and adjustable from the inside (velcro) so it's a little more expandable. It will hold something 5-6 inches tall total and still close. The pouch is deceptively large, it has expandable sides so if you really stuffed it you could get a firestarter and smaller multitool in there.

The handle strap is a little small, it's total length is 5.25 inches and held with velcro. It needs at least 1.25 inches of overlap to close. So the knife hilt would need to have a circumference of 4 inches or less to really work well. You could extend the handle strap with a velcro extension piece or by sewing on a replacement. One of the great features of the Combat Master is the adjustable handle strap.

@Moose, no BKT's yet but I'm in the process of selling a safe queen to get a working knife, a BKT is on my shortlist thanks to this forum.

Got one in mind?

I'm looking at the BK7 vs. the Ontario RD7.

I got a Spec-Ops C.M. long sheath for an Ontario OKC3S bayonet (fits pretty well) but the bayonet came with a decent sheath. Now I've got an empty sheath to fill with a 7-8 inch knife! The Remington sheath is for something else.

You like flirting don'tcha? :D Well, Ok, I'm a little more for getting to it, so, whatcha gonna put in that Remington Sheath?

Oh, and if you are wanting to see what a BK7 feels like, lemme know, can't really tell much about a knife until you hold it. I've held both, lemme send you a BK7 to play with and send back. :D

You're right, I should have known better than to leave out specifics.

The Remington sheath is for a 6 inch CQB blade I got from KnifeKits.com a couple of years ago. I don't think they sell it anymore but it's similar to their combat survivor blade. I don't endorse or even really recommend KnifeKits.com, but I have the blade. I toyed with making wood scales and ended up wrapping it with paracord. It's nothing special so no pictures.

You're right about holding the knife, rather than shipping knives around to hold I'll look for one in a local store. Thanks for the offer though. I'm off to bed now, I didn't expect to have such a response. I'll look at the thread later but don't be offended if I'm not around for a while.

Awhile back when I got my Crewman I had to send my Spec-ops sheath for a special fitting in VA. I wish I'd have known about the boiling trick. This one looks pretty good though, looking forward to a review.

When you saw this sheath at smkw how much were they do you know. I went there yesterday and saw the sheath. And am hopefully going to get it later this week. I swear that I saw it for 15 bucks but from looking at it online idk if I am right. And I'm planning on putting gerber big rock in it.

It was $35 if memory serves. I saw them again last weekend too, but I didn't check the price again, I headed straight to the moras. You have to walk past the Kabar cases to get their, do, it was a good place to start.

Ya I walk in there and that was the first thing I saw. So I walked around a little while more. And never went back. I did find a whole lot of 5.11 stuff that would like to have just not in the price range at the moment. I wish we had stores like this. Were I live. The closest thing we have is a cabbalas 3hrs away an an army navy store. Which I may be going to the one I saw on the way back to piegon forge from smkw if time persits.

Sorry, I just saw, that this was your first post. Welcome to the Becker forum, Bladeforums, and East Tennessee. :D

Yeah, I'm spoiled. I've grown up going to the SMKW's, and I sometimes take it for granted. You must have went in at 11/12 door, the Remington sheaths are there on the right, by the Gerber stuff.

Once again, welcome.

They used to have OD, and Black as well, but demand for that has kinda fallen off. The Surplus store would be your best bet.
