i just figured out a way to make a remote control power strip and did it and it works. if you want to know how just message me and ill send you detailed instructions on how to do it. the reason why i did it was because i figured that if something goes wrong with your equipment, you may not be able to reach the power to turn it off without too much damage being done so having a remote on/off for it helps out. i plan to do it to a full length wall strip sometime. this also just gives us guys another remote to play with. HEHEHEHE!!!!!

i decided to go ahead and write them up and paste them here. if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Tools:
wire cutters and strippers
soldering pen (never use a soldering gun with electronics because it emits a small mangetic charge which can fry your electronics)
solder
screwdriver
safety glasses

Items:
remote control adapter rated for correct voltage and amps of your equipment
power strip

Instructions:
1. take the remote adapter housing off and remove the board with wires
2. unsolder the black and white wires (remember which ones go where)
3. remove the back off of the power strip and take the black and white wires from the power cable out of the plug outlet
3a. check to make sure the board will sit firmly inside the power strip before doing any work. if you have to remove the first outlet closest to the power cord then do so and be sure to reconnect the ground wires together and put electrical tape on them to insure that the connection never touches the circuit board.
4. solder the black and white wires to the board in the same place that the black and white wires came from the plug on the remote unit
5. connect the black and white wires that went to the plug on the adapter to the plug outlet on the power strip
6. check to make sure all your connections are good and solid and place the remote control board inside the power strip and put the back to the power strip back on.
7. make sure you are close enough to pull the plug incase something goes wrong and plug in the power strip and plug in your machines and use the remote to power on the power strip. then turn on your equipment and check to make sure nothing is shorting out in the power strip.
8. if nothing is shorting out then you are finished.

Side Note:
always wear safety equipment and make sure that the remote control unit is rated for your equipment. also be sure to check the batteries in your remote at least once a day to make sure you can use it in an emergency. also make sure if you are doing more than one power strip to get remote control units that dont have the same frequency.
