Remove blade finish without media blasting?

I like the finish i get with the standard green scotch brite pads this is basically the same as hand sanding it so be ready to spend a very long time working on this blade but it seems to have a hard enough abrasive to work on most materials.

Just wanted to give y'all an update, the blade is taking a patina well after just a couple uses, couldn't ask for more. I re-profiled the blade from somewhere around 48-50° ish back to ~40° and get much better results with it. Here it is propped up against some Broadleaf Plantain.

So how did you end up removing the coating? You got a VERY nice result!

I removed the coating by rubbing it with a cloth and either baking soda or bar keepers friend but I don't remember which. I added the powder to the blade then added a few drops of water to make kind of a thin paste then rubbed in small circles using moderate pressure with the blade clamped on a flat surface.
