I just got a Kopa with jigged bone. This is a very nice knife, but there is one little thing that bothers me. The clip gets in the way of right hand use of the hole opener in the blade. It messes up my grasp of the small knife. I have no problem with my left hand, but I am a dextral.

I managed to let the blade slip and it drew blood - top middle finger.

Does anyone know if the screws that hold the clip will bottom when the clip is removed? Anyone know what type of screws/size they are? - they look like Phillips.

Yes, the screws will probably bottom out againt the blade if you remove the clip and put them back in. Other problem is the recess which the clip sits in, it's ugly as sin once the clip is removed.

Grinding down the bolster and filling the screw holes can be done, but it's a major project...

Thanks for the photos - I can't imagine why Spyderco would put a clip on a knife this small - and then make it nearly impossible to remove it!
I don't think that I want to take the knife to the belt grinder. I guess that I will be living with the clip.
I just have to remember not to try to open it one-handed with my right hand.

It looks like your jigged bone model has been carried. Does the jigged bone hold up well when carried with keys and other stuff?

Yes it gets carried occasionally, as does the Cocobolo one. But the only knife of mine that ever gets carried with keys and stuff is a micarta Jester. When I carry the Kopa it has a pocket to itself. But bone is pretty tough stuff. How long do you think a G-10 bone would hold up to a Doberman? :D

Thanks. I usually have plastic handled knifes in with keys and other hard stuff as well. The answer to your question -
It probably depends on how old the Doberman is....
