Hey guys, i just recieved a tapmatic from a forumer. how the heck can i remove the jt33 taper?? it has a mt2 shank and i need to remove the tapmatic from the shank to fit my drillpresses but i doubt i can pound hard on this to free it from the taper. how would i go about it?

ok i got her off. now.., how do you tighten the collet on these to secure the tap. i read tapmatic site but it's not much help.

Got it!! just use two sets of needle nose vice grips. what exactly are the two adjustable screws for? because niether reach the tap to secure it.

There should be a collet. There are different sizes for the different taps. These are the hardest part of a tapping head to get. The chuck aligns the tap and the set screws should rest against either the collet or the shank of the tap, normally on the square end to prevent spinning.

this may be too late
but I will post any way

you rarely need to use the set screws
and the collet its ruber wit metal strip to hold diferent sizes

I use a couple of standar wrenches to tighten the collet

I put the jt33 on it, to fit on my drill press
but you ready know how to replace it.

best regards

Thanks Guy's!!

I got everything figured out after tinkering a bit! not rocket science :-) but after looking at the parts diagrame i was a bit nervous to start twisting and tapping on it as theres so much going on inside.

Gusval, thanks for the excellent new toy  i tapped 20 holes in .100" TI and 10 blind holes in 3/16" TI going .165 deep in a matter of a minute..., freakin cool!!! :D
