Well first things first; this is just another example of not to pay for a knife that is not made yet. Never. never pay for the whole thing up front. If the maker says that is how it works - walk away. Maybe a small deposit is OK at times, but never the whole thing.

Otherwise, sorry this happened to you, and hope it turns out OK in the end. Thanks for letting the community here know.

Gaston knife has said what the majority here will tell you, that is to never pay before the knife is complete and ready to ship.

Because this is what happens that could never happen if one doe not ever prepay!!!

Not all people will scam you when paying up front. But, if you want something custom made to your specs, you may need to cough up some good faith money. I take it this deal didn't happen on here, or did it?

Many knife makers are poor business people and even worse at planning their work. As above, small deposits OK, only pay full upfront when you have a relationship with the maker. I have a maker friend who will ship me the knife for my inspection before I have to pay for it. That is a relationship that developed over 15 years and eight knives.

Wow what a clown ,, Nothing ... I mean nothing pisses me off more than a knife maker stealing money from clients . Money is earned and it does not come easy . When a man gives me his hard earned money for a job or service that's what he gets .. Honest hard work or a product that is the best to my abilities . This guy reminds me of Mike Maniord who made the same style knives and pulled the same crap as this guy. He was the first introduction to custom knife makers and actually was the reason I started making knives.

Anyway good luck and if I see any new listings on Instagram I will be sure to ask why he hasn't squared up with you.

Too many FB, YT, and Instagram knife makers.....
Don't pay unless you have something to pay for.

A-FRIGGIN-MEN!!!
Seems like there are new reports like these every week and it's always the same.......I paid in full and........

I can't get a reply from him either makes me sick. People say don't send the money but that's what they want. I just won't buy anymore

You just don't send it then, and buy from someone else. If everyone did this, they would change their terms. Although, people like him would likely not send the knife when it was done and keep your money.

Not sure that's the best plan.....how bout dealing with makers that do not ask for full payment up front?? Small deposit, fine.
