I bought this sharpening stone at the flee market today and I was wondering if anyone had any good tips on how to remove the adhesive off the back of it. It was glued into a box that I removed. I was also wondering if anyone had any ideas on what type of stone it is. The best I can tell you is that it's a natural stone and the face is very smooth. I think it's a soft Arkansas stone.

It looks to be a Washita or a soft Arkansas. The glue doesn't look so bad. I'd try Acetone with a steel brush. A large stone. Those are not cheap. Good find. DM

That's a good buy. Someone thought enough of it to build a box. Is it a 2X10" stone? DM
