removing lacquer coating

Hello All,

I posted this in Maintenance, but thought all of you here would also have some good ideas.

I have some kurouchi knives that came coated with some sort of clear lacquer, to prevent rust in transit I assume.

I would like to remove it and am wondering if any of you have some proven methods.

Lacquer thinner and very fine steel wool

easiest and best thing to use is acetone....ryan

Thank you. I tried some lacquer thinner and some other stuff. Acetone worked the best, fastest, cleaneset, etc.
