It's a quality axe that's for sure. I'm just sol with any other markings.

Ya, that is a stark reality that we may never discover the lineage and maker of so many of our axes and axes yet own ;)

You do have a beauty there, I have one that is so heavily pitted, If there were markings, like you said SOL. But a great old axe with great steel.
Then the ones that all I can make out are the words cast steel or cast warranted...se la vi:cool:

How altruistic this ended up... I purchased a bunch of slightly warped hafts from jb a few months ago. One of them I've been trying to find the maker. And, lo and behold, it's a New England handle co! I found it in finding that ol thread for you Miller '72 Miller '72

That couldn't have worked out any better! I know it seems obvious, and indeed it is, but i tried googling it and a bunch of other search methods and i couldn't find the company till tonight while reading that thread about the NE old yank. Awesome!
