G'day all, does anyone have any tips for removing the excess oil from dyed jigged bone. Previously I have boiled the scales, are there better methods?

Thanks in advance:thumbup:

I've used alchohol based dye the times I dyed bone or antler. No need for further steps because the alchohol evaporates.

About 25 years ago or longer I used Ritt or Ritz dye to dye whole antlers. It was a messy proposition. I'm pretty sure it's still available. It's a powder that you mix with hot tap water and just leave whatever it is you're dyeing in there. I bought it at the grocery store, in the detergent aisle I think. The connection came from watching a former female friend make tie dyed shirts in her bath tub back in the 1970's. I can't believe I wore those things back then (damn hippie).

Just give them a good wipeing down with acetone or alcohol, and then again before attaching them to a blade/
