How do you guys remove the little brass "spike" at the bottom? I'm planning to take this with me outdoors and it's poked my leg a few times going up a small hill. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry not to be able to tell you how to effectively remove the Chape... but if I may suggest carrying the khukuri the same fashion the Ghorkhas do, to minimize it's interfernce with bodily movements. On the waist belt, in the middle/small of the back, hanging straight down.

I removed mine by heating the chape on my electric range. Once you heat up the glue/epoxy the chape will just slide right off. I held the chape on the element until the glue liquified.

One of mine had a small gap. I slid a small flathead screwdriver and gently wedged it off. It came off really easily. Although if it were glued on better I'd use the heat method. Depends on how well it's glued down.
