removing the Esee Izula coating- yes or no?

zuluninja, that turned out really nice! I like that alot!

I know sometimes when you put that much work into pollishing a knife, it just makes you want to keep it looking nice!

@BryFry can i also use my plate with a high grid sandpaper to resharpen my edge ?
I had no time to finish the blade but i will try today or tomorrow and post a pic.
I already tried to force a patina but it doesn't looked good with my raw finish ;)

Btw your patina look awesome ! really colorful looks like you cut through some uranium :D

well, it's a choice u have to make. A stripped blade cuts better as there is less drag on the grind, but it will also rust if u don't treat or oil it. like black sheep said, the choice is yours.

Hey BryFry, thanks. I'm addicted to pcb now, lol. Doing a little project on a BK9, will post when done.

Yes, absolutely. Takes some practice, but once you learn the technique you can use the sandpaper and stropping compounds to achieve some of the most beautiful hair popping edges you'll ever see!

Heartily agree. It's my favorite sharpening method.

What grit did you guys start with? I can't seem to get this right on my esee 3. Like there's little pitting left.

My before and after of my esee 4 thanks for the tips man looks great.

Hey guys, I just stumbled upon this by accident. Some great ideas here. I guess I'm a tad lazier than a lot of you. I just bought an Esee 3 (kinda wish I'd bought a 4 now) and my plans are to go to the dollar store, buy a tall, skinny glass of some kind, put some stripper in it and suspend my knife in there with some cordage so I only strip the blade. I'm only concerned with saving the coating under the slabs. Then sandpaper and after that either cut up some citrus or hit the mustard.

I took everything off and just layed the knife in a small baking sheet and heated the apple cider vinager in microwave I did that and polished with a grade #0000 steel wool and repeated 3 times switching out the vinager on the last bath and rinsing with cold water. I like the 4 I just ordered the original izula might have to try and make that shine
